About Your Tour Host, Mike Lane
Always courteous and smartly dressed, Mike is the quintessential English gentleman. If you would like his company and assistance during your visits to tourist attractions he’s more than happy to join you, or you’re welcome to take visit at your leisure and he’ll be waiting for your return.
One of the things Mike enjoys most about taking his guests on tour is the bond they quickly make, and how much he contributes to the enjoyment of their special day trip. Of course he tells his visitors about the history and facts of the places on the tour, and there’ll be a lot of talk about mutual countries and the differences between them, and how we live our lives.
Mike left the corporate world at the turn of the century. After training to become a London Guide, and working for another tour company, Mike moved to the West Country to set up Liberty Car Tours to pursue a more rewarding life. A real people person, he always loves to make new friends from across the world.
I love people, and I think this shows in how successful my tours are. In the end it is not just about a comfortable car and wonderful destinations, but how much we become friends even if just for one day.
Mike is a real history geek, and is very proud of his English heritage and the Royal Family. The region, known as Wessex in Saxon times, is full of history. From the Stone Age monuments of Stonehenge and Avebury, through Roman and medieval times to the modern day there is something for everyone.
While Mike is not officially a guide, as your host he’s a veritable encyclopedia, and will be able to tell you all about your tour destinations. He’s also the perfect introduction into the, sometimes eccentric, ways of the British people. Whether you want the latest gossip on the Royal Family, to understand British politics or are just curious about what fanny means to an Englishman, you’re sure to finish your tour enlightened.
